Chemicals and Waste
Our waste and chemical services offering are tailored to provide clients with solutions that will ensure safe handling, storage, transport, usage of chemicals, products, and resources, as well as adequate disposal or reuse of waste materials.

Cities consume increasing amounts of chemicals, products, and natural resources including water, energy, food, and a wide range of raw materials, producing astronomically high amount of waste and emissions, thereby impacting on the regional and global environment. Waste pollution is one of the main environmental problems in most African cities and communities.
Urban ecosystems are characterized by a very high energy consumption and large amounts of solid waste to be discarded, incinerated, or treated in other manner. This way, they represent landscape degradation factor and adversely affect the quality of water resources, land, and urban air.

Africa is experiencing severe constraints with regards to the availability of landfill space, as well as challenges in operating and decommissioning landfills in a manner that is compliant with licensing conditions. To that end, there is need to transform from a linear to a circular waste economy via resources optimization and through building a secondary resources economy around the beneficiation of waste.
Our waste and chemical services offering include the following:

Waste classification and assessment

Treatment plant and technology feasibility study

Compilation of chemical inventories, database, and management

Chemicals treatment technology selection and advisory services

Lifecycle assessment and value chain analysis

Closure plans and cost estimates

Solid waste planning and landfill design

Circular economy and resource optimization studies
